What a Country!

Does anyone remember Yakov Smirnoff? If not, you missed a funny guy.

He was born as Yakov Naumovich Pokhis in the Ukraine when it was still part of the Soviet Union. You remember that place, right? United Soviet Socialist Republic, which is an oxymoron. The name, not the country.

Back to Yakov. He's a jew and taught art. According to WikiPedia, he still paints. I haven't heard or seen him in years. I've never seen his paintings. I should look those up...

But, he's not the point of this blog posting.

His attitude is.

When he came to the United States, with his assumed name of Yakov Smirnoff, he saw, according to one of his early stand-up routines, a billboard with a picture of a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka, and at the bottom of the billboard the words, "America Loves Smirnoff."

In a nice play on those words he referred to his last name of Smirnoff and said, "What A Country!"

Yes, this is quite a country.

At least it used to be. Oh, it's still apparently free, but the government has imposed so much of its will against ours that we can do little to turn the clock back.

How can I say that, you might ask? Don't we still get to elect representatives who do what we want them to do?

No, we don't. Technically we never did. In a Republic, which we are supposed to be but haven't been since around 1913, we elect people who do what they believe to be the right thing, and then we see what that is and either kick them out, or keep them.

Back to what we do now days: We elect people who either see the power of the elite and long to be part of that power, or we elect those who see elite power, and want to destroy it as should be done. Once they are in Washington, or at the state level in my case, Salt Lake City, they become corrupt and start to get the attitude of those who are there and have been for years.

They look at our money, which they have illegally taken from us through either hidden or the not so hidden taxes, as their own to do with as they please, with little to no responsibility to us to whom it belongs. I supposed I appear naive to them, but I honestly believe I know better how to spend my money than they do. I do not believe my money is earned only to  be taken and contributed "to the greater good."

But, as I A.D.D. myself back on topic, I'm wondering why the progressives (the left) are so adamant on not offending those who hate our country. It's PC to hate the U.S. but it's so evil to hate those who hate "US".

Take the picture below for instance and ask, "Where's the outcry?" and then watch that outcry never happen.

Okay, you can count this blog post as an outcry against it.

What am I talking about? The mass produced in many varieties and proudly worn shirts sold all over that look like this one:

What is that? Click on the picture for a larger image and then it ought to be obvious what you are seeing. And do you see the wonderful, happy, joyous expression? Now there's Muslim Pride proudly displayed for all the world to see.

Oh wait. Not ALL the world. Only the parts of the world NOT covered by our mainstream media. They couldn't possibly show that the mass murder of over 3000 people on 9/11/2001 is still celebrated as a great Muslim victory over the dogs in the West. That would cause the lowly, uninformed Christians to still believe Islam is NOT a religion of peace. No, they can't show evidence of that which we know to be true. [if you are a peace-loving Muslim, you aren't really a "true" Muslim, so you really ought to get out of that anti-Christian, violence-prone religion; in other words, get a "life" dudes.]

Now go ponder how the words of Isaiah go unheeded:
Woe unto them that call aevil bgood, and good evil; that put cdarkness for dlight, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (see lds.org/scriptures/ot/isa/5.20 to read it in context)
I'm not going to preach the obvious. I'm not going to get angry and go do something rash. But I wish I could and not be punished because of how backwards everything is. I actually suspect that if a Muslim broke into my home and I killed him for doing so, I'd be charged with a hate crime. I think things are that twisted now.

To any Muslim reading this: Don't think I wouldn't still kill you if you broke into my home. Not for a second would I hesitate. You'd be dead before you crossed the threshold. I'd make sure your dead and rotting corpse would fall inside the house just to be certain that I couldn't be charged with homicide. If you don't understand what I mean, you need to do some reading up on the law. Oh, and I'd find our friends who own a pig farm and feed you to their swine. With a serving of Quran on the side.

Okay, I've spent enough of your time now. Thank you for reading, and remember,

I'm Karl
